| CURRICULUM VITAE
Qualifications
I graduated in July'93 from Nottingham Trent University with a BA(Hons) Photography - 1st. class. Between secondary school and university I have studied Sociology, English Literature, Graphic Design, French and Ceramics at various centres in the London area. In addition, as of July'95, I am qualified to teach at adult and FE level (City & Guilds 730-7, part one). I have considerable experience of exhibition organisation, and worked for Nottingham Trent University as technician, lecturer and research assistant. Since 2003 I have been occupied with building my house in Slovenia (see Atelje Bela Krava).
Personal Statement
I may be post-modern, if 'post-modernist' is the label applied to those who draw, somewhat irreverently, from an homogenised past, and are no longer 'shocked by the new'. I may, however, lack sufficient irreverence. I am presently occupied with an 'impure co-mingling' of photography and ceramics; attempting to find meaning in their (obvious) differences and (less obvious) common goal - that of 'alchemically' making permanent transitory impressions, of light and touch respectively. The result, so far, has been several series of 'shallow sculptures' which I call photo/ceramic pictures - dislocated murals reminiscent of mosaics, tombstones and icons. My chief influences might include relief sculpture, middle-eastern roadside shrines (to road deaths), Schwitters, Rauschenberg, Picasso & Braque (amongst many).
